S/S-2010 "Key Trends"

Knee Length Socks

Trying to cover up the skin show that hot pants, body suits and tap pants have caused thigh high or knee length socks are a relief

These socks will pull maximum attention when worn with sheer layering. Printed or patterned socks can be the focal point of the outfit.
If you're short, knee high socks that cut off below the knee are best paired with a shorter hemline to expose more leg and, thus, imply greater height. The hem should be no lower than the middle of your thigh.

With thigh high boots already making its way among the fashion followers, thigh high and knee length socks are probably the most legitimate extension of the same trend.

S/S-2010 "Key Trends"

Body Suits

Body suits have become a tool for Fashionist to use it as a base to recreate a new look every time…….just like a blank paper which gives you the scope to do any type of doodling.

Pair them up with hot accessories and see the number of eyeball you catch. This spring summer will be witnessing the same.

Body suits can be used very successfully in layers but they will become the statement pieces themselves.

Done in knitted fabrics these body hugging pieces again come with negative hemlines and bold patters…..becoming another reason to celebrate the lean teen look.

Tap Pants

Fashion always comes with an alternative……….for those who are not geared up to fit in bum-hugging look of shorts pants can consider this loose alternative of loose boy shorts or “tap pants”.

Preferably done in semi sheer or lace material these short pants with flair can have straight or ruffled hemline finishes.

With no figure hugging these tap pants are great to make a casual yet stylish statement this summer.

Hard shoulders (Autumn Winter-2009)

One of the key ingredient of 80s power dressing is back in vogue all again adding glamour to the disco culture.
Back then the idea behind the concept of hard shoulders being introduced to women’s wear was significantly related to the social and economical development women had shown all across the globe be it politics ,business or the day to day life women empowerment was evident in every sphere.
Following the similar lines once again designers focused, on well-defined shoulders. Structured pieces such as coats and jackets came with architectural and austere shoulders on the Autumn/Winter runways while exaggerated puffs and pagodas emphasized the look on dresses and blouses.
Collections by designers like Isabel Marant, Zacposen, Jaeger London, and Polini had a mention of shoulders been made hard and striking, with details like puffs and stiff finishes, In order to emphasize them more.
This autumn winter the exaggerated shoulders are now the ultimate element of power dressing; giving an impression of lean waist lines.

Hounds Tooth (Autumn winter-2009)

Hounds tooth the simple yet classic checked pattern was a two color woven wonder traditionally available in a combination of black and white.

This fabric has made it to the list of being the comeback story of the season, with designers like Alexander macqueen,DKNY,etc playing a lot with scale size and colors the pattern dominated fall 09 autumn winter ramp shows all across the globe.

From being a heavier less feminine design preferred only for coats and jackets this season it managed to find a place in almost every sphere of fashion and lifestyle be it clothing like tops, skirts, pants, trousers, jackets……or be it small casual one piece dresses.

Besides clothing accessories like handbags, shoes and stoles done in hounds tooth fabrics are quite in demand …….with almost every designer giving some place to this design element in there Autumn-winter 2009 collections which is now at the shelves.

Fashion Kaleidoscope

Hues unlimited......

The world can never forget what Benjamin Franklin had once quoted “Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every forth night”.
It’s an art of constantly creating and innovating for better.
Needless to add Fashion is synonymous to change without which our lives would have been boring .It’s an entity which is as old as the human civilization, one way or the other fashion has influenced, and will always remain a part of our lifestyles.
The fashion industry, what we know it today as, is the fruit of the enormous endeavors of the designer community who gave design a highly creative edge thereby making fashion a million dollar baby.
Graduating from the apparel and accessory domains, fashion has gradually touched a wide spectrum of the industry, while still remaining in the back of the stage at times.
Without thinking twice I believe that the entire credit goes to the designers. In my opinion like fashion the definition of a designer too is misconceived most of the times.
A designer is not only the one who sits in some high fashion design studio at Paris or Milan and churns some –n- number of weird idea’s for the world to go gaga about, rather he or she is a social scientist who believes in changing the meaning of “a good life” which should be certainly full of opulence and luxury.
Therefore he or she could be anybody sitting anywhere in the world and irrespective of all the biases of backgrounds….. A scientist, an engineer or even a rock star. You name the domain and I am sure we can pinpoint names who have left their marks and have influenced fashion with their distinctive thought process.
The Glamour and panache fashion encloses is of course unavoidable, but one shouldn’t get lost in that. These are just like spices that add flavor to the recipe the actual cooking demands lot more efforts.
The entire thought process involved in designing a single new trend for every coming season involves so much of circumvention that one can’t even think about; it’s a detailed analysis of the social circumstances we are living in currently, meaning it involves studying the entire demographics of the society.
To consider a small example it is believed that after the world war-2 finished, the color red was almost swept out of the fashion industry the reason being simple, with so much of bloodshed already happened, people around the globe couldn’t see the color red anymore.
Result, The color red remained absent for quite a long period of time as if it was never there as a hue itself.
And the influence was not just limited to the textiles or clothing or even accessories for that matter, it rather reached wherever there was a scope for color as an adjective.
Such is the power and authority fashion holds………..

You hate it, but you still can’t ignore it, therefore remembering what legendary designer Coco Chanel had famously quoted once Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.

Acknowledging the romance of fashion and lifestyle…..
Feeling Mesmerized, let’s open our minds and thoughts……

Keep following fashion let’s see how far we can go………
